Understanding Fashion Design
Fashion is a kind of autonomy and self-expression in a certain context and time and at a certain time, in a certain culture and region. The word simply means a fashionably appearing dress defined by the fashion market as what is trendy at that time. But the meaning of the term is also more complex. It can mean the quality or state of being stylish. It can be defined as the art or science of preparing or choosing clothes, jewelry, and accessories with a view to make an individual look stylish, fashionable, or elegant.
In a simple word, fashion means dressing or apparel that makes the human body attractive to others and appealing to the eye. It can be described in different terms. In the modern or contemporary language, it can be called “stylishness”, “aesthetic taste” or “sexy design”. Another way of saying it is “a style that suits” or “the right attitude”. The other term that can describe fashion is “wimps” or “tramps”.
The significance of fashion trends is increasing daily. Even the average child in the streets knows that the clothes he wears are considered fashionable. But what is even more important to a kid is how well the clothing fits him or her. For this reason, children’s clothing must have a good fit, quality and comfort.
So does fashion really exist without style? Does it exist without dress codes? No, fashion doesn’t exist without the dress code, the formal dress, the trend, or without the ever-changing ideas on what would or should be updated in the fashion world. Fashion has existed since the start of civilization. It is part of human history. The early Egyptian papyrus in particular has writings on how people used to dress long before there was writing.
Fortunately for all of us, fashion trends nowadays have been constantly evolving and improving. Some would say that there are still problems existing, especially among the marginalized communities that are often the target of these fashion trends. However, there are also many ways and means that we could all be more aware and more conscious of our appearance practices.
And one of these ways is by simply knowing what the latest fashion trends are. Thanks to the innovations of high fashion designers such as Dior, D&G, Prada, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Celine, Dior, Denni Laude and many more, there are now more choices than ever for everyone to choose from. High fashion trends are not only limited to our borders but also our skin colors, our body shapes, ethnicity and even our lifestyle choices. High fashion brands like Dior, D&G, Burberry, Versace, Prada, Fendi, Celine, and many others have definitely helped define and redefine what it means to be a fashionable and stylish person in our society today.
